My name is Mella Travers and I have been working in the towing industry for about 12 years now. I started out answering phones for a small towing company in my early twenties, mostly just to pay the bills, and ended up staying a lot longer than I planned. Over time I learned how the business worked from the inside out, and eventually I started my own operation.
Running a towing company is not glamorous work. It involves a lot of early mornings, late nights, difficult customers, and equipment that breaks down at the worst possible times. But I genuinely enjoy the work and I have learned a lot along the way, mostly through trial and error and by talking to other people in the industry who were willing to share what they knew.
That is the main reason I started this blog. When I was getting started, I found it hard to get straightforward information about towing equipment. There is a lot of marketing material out there but not much honest, practical writing from people who actually use the equipment day to day. I wanted to fill that gap as best I could.
On this site I write about towing equipment reviews, things I have noticed after putting gear through real use, and general topics related to running a towing business. I try to be as specific as possible and to keep my opinions grounded in actual experience rather than speculation.
I am based in Maryland and run a small fleet. I am not an engineer and I do not claim to be an expert on everything. I just know what has worked for me and what has not, and I figure that information is worth sharing.
