Mella Travers is a well-respected and versatile photographer. Soon after graduating with an Honours BA in Photography from London’s prestigious University of Westminster in 1995, Mella’s beautiful and thought-provoking series The Four Seasons was syndicated internationally by the photographic agency Camera Press.

She has become particularly renowned for her sensitive and intuitive approach to photographing people - both non-professionals and models. As well as meticulous technique, Mella Travers’ awareness of and enthusiasm for symbolism and mythology gives her work a fresh, unique appeal. To date she has had two exhibitions ‘Truth or Illusion’ and ‘Untitled Colours’ in London and Toronto.

Mella's unique ability to visualise an image at a conceptual stage allows her to successfully achieve her creative goal which results in stunning images, convincingly captured whether in studio or on location. Mella has embraced the digital era of photography and now works with the latest digital back technology from PhaseOne (P45) for medium and large format projects as well as continuing with 35mm digital SLR's (Nikon D2x) for lower resolution work. She still works with film using 5" x 4" Sinar, and medium format Hasselblad as well as hand printing her own colour and black & white prints for special projects. Additionally, most of the sets for the more elaborate images have been designed and built by Mella.

A Mella Travers image will always stand out from the rest.
